Interior Dome LED Lighting

Help us illuminate the mission of The Basilica Landmark as we transform our interior dome lighting to LEDs — offering our historic space a life-sustaining future for the people and purpose we serve.

Currently, the interior dome lighting utilizes 29,000 watts of energy per hour—totaling $2.90 for one hour of Mass. With the same light output, the new LED power load will use approximately 5,220 watts and cost $0.52 per hour. Not only will this project reduce our energy use by 82%, it will also provide significant cost savings that can be reinvested in programs and ministries.

This project involves replacing the entire light fixture and electrical wiring to update each 1,000 watt bulb. The total cost for labor and hardware for the 88 fixtures is $79,000. This project is part of moving the entire Basilica campus to LED lighting to continually improve our energy efficiency.
